AMELIA

Amelia & Diane

Picture
On May 21st, 2019 25 dogs were rescued by volunteers from a local slaughterhouse in Harbin. Ultimately, it breaks our hearts to say, they were too late for some that had already been slaughtered. Amelia was one of the lucky ones to be rescued. Though she was rescued, she was far from safe as she was placed in the local shelter with a severe medical condition. The shelter volunteers knew she needed help and sent us a plea. When we saw Amelia's condition we pulled her the next day. She was in desperate need. Amelia had a rectal prolapse and was in so much pain. She couldn't even sit. When we got her to the vet, the severity of the condition was discovered. The vet told us that part of her intestine was rotting and she was in grave danger. Amelia had surgery to save her life but experienced major complications. She required a second surgery when she started bleeding and had yet another rectal prolapse. Even with her condition, pneumonia and terrible skin disease, this baby girl fought. She wanted to live and so she fought. Her fighting paid off as on September 28th, 2019 Amelia met her forever human Diane. Diane had seen a picture of Amelia a couple of months before and it was love at first sight. Diane was told of the conditions Amelia was being treated for but was not deterred. If anything, Diane wanted to be with her faster to help aid in her recovery. They had met at the airport that fall night and have been inseparable ever since. While Amelia was slow to adjust to her new life filled with a family that includes 2 doggie sisters, 4 cats and 2 human brothers, she was full of love from the beginning. Diane told us how Amelia always wanted to be touching one of her humans. Even now she still wants to be touching someone whether in their lap or sitting by their side. Amelia also gets to sleep in a bed between her humans each night (sharing Diane's pillow). Just look at all these pictures, beautiful Amelia is home and we couldn't imagine a more perfect family for her. Thank you Diane and family for being the loving family Amelia always deserved.
