Frank & Kariann

Picture
Little Frank was rescued in December 2018. Frank was one of 15 lucky ones, saved from a dog meat truck. He was put into the "little yard" with several others so they would have a safe place while they healed and searched for their forever homes. There were several pugs on the truck that day and they were all sick with pneumonia. It took a bit longer for them to heal and start vaccinations. Timing is everything though and patience paid off for Frank when he hit the jackpot! While Frank was healing, Kariann happened upon his picture...continue reading below for their story.
Finding Frank was total luck! One day, I happened to be scrolling through Facebook and I came across Monty’s Mission (this was the rescue Eva Saving Harbin Dogs founder was part of at the time) and I started following them. We had lost a pug about 2 years earlier and I was kind of starting to look for another one, but not seriously.
One December day, I saw that the rescue had stopped a meat truck and rescued 15 dogs from it, 4 of them being pugs. I eventually reached out to them asking if the pugs were available and what the process was, as I did not know anyone that had rescued from China before. I eventually received the application and filled it out, but I never submitted it. I asked about them again in early March, figuring that I missed my chance at getting one and a few weeks later I got a message telling me that the pugs were finally ready to be adopted and that they had one left if I was interested in him. I was super excited, but nervous because I didn’t know what I was getting myself into. I asked a million questions and asked to see pictures of him, but as soon as I saw his sweet little face, I fell in love with him and had to have him!
Frank is a perfect fit for us! From the first day he was with us, he fit in just right. He adjusted to his new life here quickly. He also gave our older dog some new life. He has just the right amount of energy, but certainly likes to lay around and sleep too. He is the cuddliest, most snuggly, loving dog we have ever had! He is super friendly and laid back with everyone he meets. His favorite things to do are lick my husband’s head, play with his favorite toy which is the one he got from the rescue when he got off the plane, have his belly rubbed, and eat! He loves to eat!!
Before I came across this rescue, I had heard about the Chinese meat trade, but I didn’t really know all that much about it. I have certainly learned a lot! I would not think twice about rescuing from Saving Harbin Dogs again! I truly believe that these dogs know what they were saved from and how lucky they are. Since we rescued Frank, 3 other people that I know personally that live near me have also adopted amazing dogs from Saving Harbin Dogs.
