Maggie & Phil

Picture
Beautiful Maggie (formerly Gloria) was rescued last year. She was only about 2 years old when her cruel owner wanted to sell her to a dog meat truck. She was with us for a while until Phil spotted this beauty. The timing was perfect because she ended up in the perfect home for her...continue reading below for their story.
It was a little over a year ago when my family’s life was changed. This includes my current dog Dusty. Little did we know what joy was about to be brought into our lives by our Maggie. It was April of 2019 when I saw a friend of mine post a picture and story about a dog her family had recently adopted from China. I was not even aware of this adoption process or even why it was occurring. I browsed over to Saving Harbin Dogs and began to read and browse the photos of the pups. The whole process of why this was happening and the second chance all these pets were given kept me very intrigued. As I continued to browse through the photos of the now available dogs I saw her for the first time “Gloria”! Being an owner of an already 2-year-old yellow lab she instantly caught my eye. I couldn’t believe such a beautiful girl like her was experiencing such a traumatic life experience. Immediately I reached out to find out more information on her and what was all entailed with the process. Eva quickly replied and provided all the answers to my questions. I showed her to my wife and instant love happened. I knew we had to have her in our family. The process was now underway to get her out! It was actually quicker and easier than I expected. The payment was submitted and “Gloria” was scooped up and her new journey was just beginning. We got her on the last airplane seat en route to JFK Airport. Two weeks had passed and we were on our way to the airport. Not knowing what to expect from “Gloria” or my current dog, we had all kinds of emotions going on from excitement to worry. Well, let me tell you what! Once we got her at the airport she walked right to our car hopped in and sat. She was already family and I knew we made the right decision. She is full of energy and I can’t even explain the love she gives. Kind-hearted, gentle also mischievous but she knows this is her new family and will be forever. When we got her home there was some hesitation on my current dog’s approach so we eased them together and now I think they have a better bond then I do with her. They follow each other and play as if they were raised from birth. When they are tired they sleep together and snuggle. This is just a quick excerpt of what she has brought into our lives. It still blows my mind to know the horror these animals are put through. Every day that I look at her I know we made the best decision. She is and always was a part of my family even when she wasn’t here. She was meant to be with us! I just want to thank Eva Dudas and all who are a part of Saving Harbin Dogs. We truly are saviors of these animals and without you, we all know where their lives would have been. Below are just a few of the pictures we have among 100’s more. If you are thinking or questioning if you should take this journey. My answer to you would be DO IT! Life-changing experience for not only you and your family but giving these gentle animals a true second chance at a life that they truly deserve!!
