Wangcai & Hayalsu

It was around this time last year that our founder, Eva, committed to finding Wangcai a home. He was originally rescued from Hangzhou in the fall of 2018 when the police were killing dogs in the streets. They were also going into people's homes, taking dogs from owners and killing them in very brutal ways. Wangcai was rescued by a rescuer in Beijing who ask us for help in finding him the perfect home. Last year when we had a flight scheduled to head to Miami we had space for one more dog and Wangcai got his shot at a new life. We were finally able to fulfill our promise to him to get him out of China. When he landed in Florida he met his foster mom Hayalsu. I'll let you read how she became a "foster failure" and found her newest family member, Wangcai.
I lost my dog due to cancer last year and I didnt feel ready to adopt a new furry friend. One day, I felt the urge to foster. We decided to foster a dog and I reached out to Good Karma Pet Rescue. A couple of weeks later, they reached out to me and shared a photo of Wangcai. When I saw his photo, I knew there was something special about him! We fell for his witty looks! The next thing we know was that he was coming to Miami the next day and we picked him up. He had a very long flight and his setting totally changed. However, he adapted to his life in Miami very quickly. On his first day, we brought him to the dog park and witnessed his amazing running and social skills. He wasn’t aggressive, he was very curious and luckily he adapted to our life style very quickly. He is afraid of loud noises and he is cautious with human beings but he is very friendly with animals, he learns super quick, loves running and he has amazing jumps. He is also great with solving puzzles. He is our little fox. We had heard about the Chinese meat trade before but we did not know how common and brutal it was. We also did not know about police drowning dogs and beating them up. We’re thankful to Saving Harbin Dogs for saving Wangcai and many others. He became a big part of our life and adapted quickly. I think the biggest change was the fact that he eased my pain of losing my best friend. He changed our routine forever and we love having him as our family member. As you can see we ended up as foster failures after 3 weeks. Wangcai also has his own Instagram profile @wangcailouie. We would love to save another furry friend one day! We were happy to refer friends to Saving Harbin Dogs for adoption. What they do for these lives is pretty amazing!
